  Frequently Asked Questions

What is the timeline for ordering invitations, getting them back from Michael's, and then out to my guests so that I have my responses in enough time to "lock in" the number of people coming to our event?
These are all good questions. Please click on the "Practical Information" section of the Michael's Invitations website to see tips on how to plan for all parts of your question. Please take the time to read the "Save The Date" information since that is increasingly being seen as part of your big day. We look forward to working with you.

How do I find a retailer that carries your products near me?
More and more of our retail partners are putting their contact information on MichaelsInvitations.com every day, in the "Locations" section, and so we urge you to start there. But if you don't see a retailer near you, please drop us a note in the "Contact" section and we will get right back to you with a nearby retailer, or someone who can work with you. Thanks for your question.

Why do you want me to work with a retailer, and not contact you directly?
Michael's Invitations has believed for more than 30 years that our Retail Partners are a vital part of creating special invitations. Many invitation catalogs are full of "send us your words and we'll send you your invitation." Some send you all of the pieces to assemble for an invitation, and count on you to design your own copy and put the pieces together. That isn't for everyone and can lead to some poor looking invitations created by well meaning people. Michael's takes our design and marries it to the vision you and your Retail Partner create. That's what makes for a "one of a kind" invitation. That's why our Retail Partners are so important. They are your advisor, and they work with us.

How often do you come out with new invitations? I see you have new ones on your website?
We used to publish one album a year, for example, Timeless Treasures in 2010, and now Exquisitely Yours in 2011. But, with our wedding business growing, we added a second album in 2010, From the Heart. We traditionally have introduced the new album at the New York Stationary Show in May and then followed up by taking orders, producing the complete albums, and sending them out to our Retail Partners in June. That hasn’t changed for 2011 despite Michael’s Invitations decision not to exhibit at the NYSS. The work on the annual Bar and Bat Mitzvah offerings begins in earnest right after the first of the year. Our design team sits down and looks at what Michael’s has offered previously, what we are seeing in the marketplace, what we can do that sets us apart, and then starts putting together designs for review. Not everything we produce makes the album. To make sure the designs “earn their way into the album,” we have expanded the number of people working on designs and asked our non-design and printing team members to give us feedback (and they can be tough…).

Where and when can I find the newer invitations on your website?
One of the truly great things about having the updated and expanded Michael’s Invitations website---and having so many of you checking in regularly to see what’s going on---is the ability to put up a design for a few days on MichaelsInvitations.com and see what reaction we get. We have done that a couple of times this year already, with the Valentine’s Day engagement card and the multi-color bar mitzvah invitation. So the first place to check is on the “home page,” which right now features some of the new designs from our upcoming album. And if you go the Latest Designs section of the website you’ll see what’s new. If you see something you like, talk to one of our Retail Partners (check the Retailers tab for that) who is near to you, or contact us and we can have someone call you to get started.
